Sharpie mustaches...
Enjoy these thoroughly cause if "someone" finds out these are on here she is gonna stop feeding me... and then what would I do? LOL Just kidding but she will scream probably! hahahah
I definitely had the silly giggles while we were working on our meal plan for the week and asked if I could draw a mustache on her, she said sure very reluctantly, and then you can imagine after this "someone" else had the silly giggles too!

GF waffles on a snow day...
They were ALIVE!
We are still trying to perfect the recipe for these lovely blueberry waffles...so far they are ok. LOL
The snow has stopped for now and its icy outside on all the roads and the ground is hard. I have moved in with Kentie and Nelson and am sleeping by the woodstove... happiness!

Finally Friday the calm before the storm...
My twist on some things from today so far.
Ill keep you all updated periodically with the "storm" info...when Kentie gets home we're "drawing up water" for when the expected power outages happen. Blug.
p.s. yes my christmas tree is still up, i live on my own and this is acceptable. LoL

The print for 1/27/10 turn in and my likes for today...
This FiRsT picture is my print of an old 35mm negative of my grandfather fishing at the beach. Our objective...to create a creative print doing whatever we wanted with it. I chose to wipe the developer on with a small craft paint brush in the main subject area (him) and to also paint the developer in a cross weave pattern around the remaining area. The print really is not as yellow/orange as it appears in the picture. LOL
The SeCoNd picture is an up close of the print toning that Kentie and I worked a VERY long time on. I first soaked the print in a pan of water to saturate it, drained and let dry for about 5 min. then began to paint it with various food products. We had to make a recipe for our process as part of the project, here is mine...
These last two are pictures I took yesterday of things in my house that gave me a creative inspiration, if only momentarily. : )
Supply List Needed
-35mm negative
-half inch paint brush
-large flat pan
-old grape flavored Gatorade powder mix
-plenty of water
-000 sized paint brush
-four drops of French’s original mustard
-pure vanilla extract
-almost empty magenta ink cartridge
-packet of cherry flavored Fla-Vor-Aid
-1 1/2 inch paint brush
-cup & coffee mug to mix in
Recipe for Printing Process
- Take a 35mm negative and place it in a 35mm negative carrier
- Do not remove condenser lens from 120 position
- Take note of where your subject is in the frame of the paper
- Expose print paper to (f11 @ 30sec. PC3)
- Take paper to developer, DO NOT DROP IN
- Using a half inch paint brush in a vertical direction, paint developer onto the area containing the subject
- Once the subject begins to appear paint a small area surrounding it with developer
- Then take your paint brush and begin a cross weave pattern around the remaining undeveloped area
- Once you have achieved the desired cross weave effect, place in stop bath and continue development process as normal
Recipe for Toning Process
- Place print in a flat pan and submerge in water
- Let soak about 5 minutes
- Drain water off and leave to sit an additional 5 minutes
- Add 5 scoops of old grape Gatorade to 1/4 a cup of water
- Using the same half inch paint brush begin to dip and spread the grape Gatorade along the bottom half of the print in the water area careful not to paint on the subject itself (to achieve darker areas use more Gatorade in specific areas)
- Bring grape Gatorade to edge of water line and clean brush
- Using a 000 brush, first dip in French’s mustard then pure vanilla extract
- Spread mustard vanilla mix across half the print right at the water/horizon edge
- Pick up your half inch brush again and tap bristles in the top of the old magenta ink cartridge
- Begin to stroke the magenta through the faint developer lines directly above the mustard vanilla line
- Once your strokes of magenta are complete, wash brush
- Using same brush wipe over magenta area with the mustard vanilla mix to create an orange tone
- Continue using the mustard vanilla mix across the remaining sky area of the print
- When the sky area is completely covered, mix a small amount of cherry flavored Fla-Vor-Aid to half a coffee mug of water
- Mix thoroughly
- Then using a one and a half inch paint brush, combine the cherry flavored Fla-Vor-Aid with a very small amount of vanilla, and brush straight across the sky area
- Wash out all brushes, let dry, and your done!

Human Scale Project for Design Class...
Our objective... to capture human scale in whatever way we choose. I chose to shows human scale in a way that speaks a message. As I watched this print rise up out of the developer, I felt tears come to my eye as I watched two strong loving hands hold up and embrace a forming twelve week old baby. Did I capture something for you too? Let me know what you think.

Listen to the words as you say them...
Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of God's redeeming love.
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of God's redeeming love.
Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
Hither by Thy help I’m come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.
Hither by Thy help I’m come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
Someone very precious to me recently sent me an email back in response to an email I had sent her. In the email she made reference to the song and lyrics of Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. I knew of the song and had sung in many times in church growing up, but it wasn't until today in church during worship that I really listened to the words that I had been singing all these years...WoW!

Some of my printing work from today...
FiRsT = I would like to introduce everyone to Kiki...my new friend in Portrait Lighting. She is so good as a model for that class, she doesn't move, she doesn't blink, and she doesn't talk back! Sad thing is...she's a real dummy! LOL
SeCoNd = lovely firehidrant in side-lit lighting
ThIrD = same lovely firehidrant in side-lit lighting with reflector card reflecting beautiful light onto the right side. (success)
FoUrTh = lovely firehidrant with my Mama Mia (the handy sidekick on this particular project) posing beautifully for me in brilliant lighting. I love love love this picture for which she was not particularly posing but did something that caught my eye and made me smile today when I watched it come up from the "magic".
Enjoy a little of my school day today?

This Last Long Weekend...
This past weekend was the best we could have hoped for! Saturday's party went off with a bang and MopMop had the greatest time seeing everybody together.
The first pictures are from the game playing frenzy that went on when all the family was there, and the second set are the ones that I took of Amy with her hair in Coke can rollers. The last pic is the "photoshoot crew" we were a hoot and a half!

Yesterday's post that never happened...
Yes of course I went out and took pictures yesterday, yes of course I ran out of time to upload them, yes of course I almost gave myself a concussion doing so, why yes of course!
Yes of course this took a long time, yes of course, yes of course, yes of course!
The lighting in my little house is so perfect at certain times of the day and I LOVE it and have to use it. ONe and TwO are self portraits of sorts.
ThRee...can you see the mysterious silhouette?
FoUr..."NEVER MIND THE DOG-" BEWARE OF THE CRAZY EYED BATS!
FiVe love the side lighting way too much!
SiX im bundled up to head outside for "warped Asheboro"
SeVEn is the little twiggy tree with such character.
EiGHt my new Mac wallpaper...love this set of doors.
NiNe laughed so hard when I captured this one!
TeN is not a noose, it is a tree swing rope...but it made for such a questioning picture.
EleVEn the coolest tree I have yet to take in my yard.
TwElve... can you see me, this was fun to do!
ThIrtEen went inside to make my Simply Organic-Gluten Free-Carrot Cake.
FoUrtEen 11 minutes 39 seconds to go!
FiFtEen using some Domino confectioners sugar...COOL.
SiXtEen my inspiration...Julie & Julia moment.
SeVeNtEen.. oh baby my homemade icing!
EiGhtEen just popped out of the oven and thin as a "pan"cake. lol
NiNetEen, dirty dishes.
So much fun, but one thing is for sure...I won't EVER make that again in a 9"x13" pan!
Hope you enjoyed the pictures even though they are a day late, and you didn't get to try any of my "amazing"carrot cake. However, Kentie did come down and join me for a piece or two in the warmth of the oven air and remarked that it was quite tasty! Yippee!
